Using nCloth with Character Animation

Getting Started

nCloth is a very powerful tool and is pretty easy to use. I’m no expert on it but I’ve been able to use it for things I’ve needed it for. Whether it’s a table cloth, curtains, capes, or in this tutorial, a cloak, nCloth has many possibilities.

Note: You can create an nCloth object with any polygonal object. For a smoother look without smoothing the polygon object 2-3 times, I’ll be duplicating my object and converting it to a Subdivision surface, then creating a wrap deformer so my cloth object drives the Sub-d surface. I usually do this in the beginning then hide it in a layer for when I’m ready to render. (To step through smoothness levels of the sub-d object use the 1, 2, and 3 keys. 3 being the highest level)
